New Caledonia (1/3)
January 2005
You will find here a selection of the pictures the family took with
my Dad's camera during our trip in New Caledonia. This is the first
part of 3.
All pictures are available either in tar
or zip formats. Also available is a tar
archive of the original pictures,
before being reworked.
Note that the tarballs
contain all the pictures I took, not just the ones I present
on this page.

Left is the Air Mauritius Airbus A340 that flew us direct to Sydney.

We have the same kind of tree in Reunion Island, but contrary to here,
the flowers of our trees are always red. Here, some of them are yellow.
Also, the season in Reunion Island when these trees become all red is
very short, a few weeks at most, and was long over when we flew to
New Caledonia. But most a large portion of these trees in New Caledonia
were still flamingly red.
The hotel where Stephane worked was having problems keeping its chef.
A new chef had just arrived when we visited the island, and in order
to help the hotel keep this chef, Stéphane often offered to do the
groceries for him, so that he wouldn't have to come all the way from
the island himself. Other chefs in Nouméa whom Stéphane knew often
teased him about this.
